WHAT GOD SAYS ABOUT THE HARD STUFF

"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever."

-- Hebrews 13:8

WHEN YOU FEEL DEFEATED.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9, "We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed."

WHEN YOU QUESTION WHY YOU'RE HERE.

Ephesians 2:8-10, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

WHEN YOU CAN HELP PEOPLE WHO ARE UNKIND TO YOU.

James 4:7, "Whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."

WHEN PEOPLE ARE ATTACKING YOUR CHARACTER.

Psalm 56:1-4, "Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me; all day long they press their attack.
My slanderers pursue me all day long; many are attacking me in their pride.
When I am afraid, I will trust in You.
In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?"

WHEN YOU FEEL CRUSHED FROM THE WEIGHT OF THIS WORLD.

Revelation 21:1-5, Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth," for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'

WHEN YOU ARE GRIEVING THE LOSS OF ANOTHER BELIEVER.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.
For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep.
For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Therefore encourage one another with these words."

WHEN YOU COME FACE TO FACE WITH TEMPTATION.

1 Corinthians 10:12-13, "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it."

WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE YOU DONT MATTER.

Psalm 139:1-16, "You have searched me, Lord, and You know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue You, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before, and You lay Your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain.
Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, You are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, 'Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,'
even the darkness will not be dark to You; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to You.
For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be."

We are given the promises in the Word as instruction and hope, comfort and life.

Hold on to those promises.

Write them on your heart.

Have them ready to repeat to yourself in the hard times.

Because hard times will come.

But you have the ability to get through them

when you remember you're not alone.
