FREEDOM - HAPPY 4TH

HAPPY 4th! HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

I know it's at the tail end of the night. Hopefully you stayed safe and had fun!

I was just enjoying and remembering and savoring the FREEDOM we enjoy in this country as well as the FREEDOM we enjoy because of Christ and what God has done for us.

What a blessing we have.

What a treasure that is ours that we could never afford of our own accord.

Let us revel in the gift that we have - the freedom granted and gifted to us.

2 Corinthians 3:17,

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom."

2 Corinthians 3:4-5, also,

"Such confidence we have through Christ before God.

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God."

John 8:31-36

"To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.

Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.""

Galatians 5:1,

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Romans 6:17-22,

"Thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance.

You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

I am using an example from everyday life because of your human limitations. Just as you used to offer yourselves as slaves to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer yourselves as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness.

When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness.

What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life."

We truly have access to freedom far greater than this world can offer.

Peace, joy and hope can be found in that knowledge.

Happy 4th of July,

Sarah Jane
