My God is a God of comfort.

The God of Comfort

John 16:33, "In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

1 Peter 5:10, "After you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you."

2 Corinthians 1:3-4, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God."

Psalm 27, 1-4, "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple."

Philippians 4:4-7, "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

"The will of God

will not take us

where the grace of God

will not sustain us."

~ Billy Graham

Our God is a God of peace.

The God of Peace

Isaiah 9:6, "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and of peace there will be no end."

John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

2 Corinthians 13:11, "Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you."

2 Thessalonians 3:16, "May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all." ~ Paul

Peace is not circumstantial or only found at the end of a conflict. Instead, peace is found in a gentle heart among towering giants; it is found in an open heart among closed minds; it is found in a quiet, pure worship that replaces worry; it is found in empty hands raised in praise during a time of need.

The God of Hope

Psalm 33:18-22, "The eyes of the Lord are on those who fear Him, on those whose hope is in His unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in His Holy Name. May Your unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in You."

Romans 5:2-5, "Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us."

Romans 15:13, "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."

Billy Graham said, "You will never understand who you are until you understand Who God is."

We are social creations who long to identify with something, someone or a group. It is part of our nature. We identify with what we know. When we don't know the Lord - as in a relationship deeper than ink on a page - we can't know and incorporate the beauty and sacrificial depth and identity of the One in Whose very likeness we were created.

The Bible says that we were created for a purpose. Each one of us to his or her own unique purpose and, collectively, with the purpose of being a worshipper of the Lord Almighty and to be the hands and feet of Jesus until we pass or until He comes back.

Within our purpose, we jointly must know our Creator. It not only creates an even more intense longing to invest more in Him and our relationship with Him but it also spurs us on with a hope and rejuvenation because of all these things that we come to know that God is. And He is so much more than what I have time to write here. There aren't adequate words to describe all that God is!

But, as we do begin to piece together what defines God, we are able to find each of those pieces, through our Guide, the Holy Spirit, and we allow these things to accumulate within us and take over - so that we might mirror the Lord more than we mirror the world.

May God bless your steps as you seek Him, His will and His path. I thank God for all that He is, which is more than I could ever write. I thank Him for the path He carves out for each of us. I am thankful to be able to serve Him in this world. I am thankful that HE is my comfort, peace and hope and so much more.

Thank You, Lord, for being everything I need and want. I praise You.
